Week 1

*  Welcome to Math 126E. Announcements and other important information will appear here, so check back frequently.

*  The homework for this course will be on WebAssign. Here is the link to the login page for WebAssign. Here is a jpg with instructions on how to log in.

*  The first homework is DUE next Thursday, June 30. NO late homework is accepted by any reason.

Week 4 Midterm One

*  A sample midterm is posted.  (Solutions)

*  Midterm One is on Thursday July 14, 2011. No graphing calculator. Student ID is required. A two-side notesheet is allowed in the exam (must be handwriting).

*        Re-grade policy:  if you think a grading error was made, you can write a BRIEF note on a separate piece of paper explaining in which problem and what was the error, attach it to your exam, and return the exam to your TA no later than Thursday, July 21. Please make clear that this is to fix errors only, not an opportunity to debate the grading scheme. Also, it should be understood that if a student modifies his/her exam in any way and then asks for a re-grade, that constitutes academic misconduct (cheating) and will be treated as such.

*       Midterm Number Two is on Next Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 in quiz section. It will cover Section 14.1, 14.3, 14.4, 14.7, 15.1, 15.2, 15.3, and 15.4. There will be Six problems in the exam. No graphing calculator is allowed. One (two-side) notesheet is allowed.

*      Basic Formula for Math 126.  Note: This is just a practice exam, which does not cover every aspect in this course. For better result, you are encouraged to do more old exam problems from archive.

*      Final Exam: Friday Aug 19 in Lecture (One hour).

*     Final Exam may cover Chapter 12-15 and Taylor Series. The percentages are Chapter 12-14 (1-6 in review sheet): 30% and Chapter 15 and Taylor Notes (7-8 in review sheet): 70%.

Ø Exam Rules(please read carefully)

        _You should bring your student I.D. to the exam.

       _ This exam is closed book. You may use one 81/2 by 11 sheet of notes.

       _ Graphing calculators are NOT allowed. Do not share notes.

       _ In order to receive credit, you must show your work. The correct answer with no supporting work may result in no credit.

       _ If you use a trial-and-error or guess-and-check method, or read a numerical   solution from a graph on your calculator, when an algebraic method is available, you will not receive full credit.

       _ Place a box around YOUR FINAL ANSWER to each question.

       _ If you need more room, use the backs of the pages and indicate to the reader that you have done so.

       _ Any student found engaging in academic misconduct will receive a score of 0 on this exam.

       _ You have 60 minutes to complete the exam.

       _ No make-up for final exam. I would be out of the country after Aug 24. Please contact me with your questions, concerns, if any, before that date.

Ø  Picking up the Final:
Your instructor or TA will inform you of the procedure for picking up your final exam after it is graded. (Probably you may get your paper back the first week of Autumn quarter, 2011)
