Prerequisite: 2.5 in MATH 120, score of 68% on
MATHPC placement test, score of 75% on MATHEC placement test,
or score of 2 on AP test.
The Course:
This is the first quarter in calculus of functions of a single
variable. Emphasizes differential calculus, applications and
problem solving using the tools of calculus.
Grades:
Your grade is determined by how you do relative to the class as a whole.
Grades will be based on the following:
- Worksheets/Quizzes -- 10 %
- Homework -- 10 %
- Midterm one -- 20 %
- Midterm two -- 20 %
- Final -- 40 %
Homework: Homework will be assigned
weekly and be collected in Quiz Section on Tuesday (except for week
1, 5, and 8). You are responsible for all the problems assigned.
We have a grader to grade your homework, but the amount of homework
that can be graded is limited. No late homework will be accepted.

is available at either the U Bookstore or the U copy center. Of
course you can also get the material off from

Materials website . Please note that our schedule is
slightly different from the one proposed at that website.
Exams:
The first Midterm Exam will be given on February 5, (Tuesday week 5).
The first Midterm will cover Chapter 2 (and of course Chapter 1 as
pre-calculus).
The second Midterm Exam will be given on February 26, (Tuesday week 8).
The second Midterm will cover Chapter 3.
The final exam will take place on Saturday, March 15,
2008 from 1:30 to 4:20. The final exam will cover from
Chapters 1 to 4. Click here for

You must bring a Photo ID to all exams.
Rules for taking exams:
- You are allowed to use one page of two-sided handwritten 8.5 by 11
sheet of notes.
- Graphing calculators are not allowed on exams or
quizzes. You may use a simple scientific calculator.

well-documented reason for missing a test, speak to Math Advising

Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 5th Edition
by James Stewart. We recommend students to read the textbook before
and after each lecture.
It is located in B-014 Communications Building.
