The final exam will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 1:30pm to 4:20pm.
For Sections EA, EB, EC and FA, the exam room is KNE 220.
For Sections FB and FC, the exam room is SMI 304.

Calculus by Stewart. This is a custom edition available in the University Bookstore.

A part of the new edition (the 6th edition and the custom edition) is different from the 5th edition. If you still want to use the 5th edition of Stewart Calculus (Early Transcendentals), please follow the direction given at How to access the problems in Stewart 6th Edition .

We recommend students to read the textbook before and after each lecture.

Prerequisite:

2.5 in MATH 120, score of 68% on MATHPC placement test, score of 75% on MATHEC placement test, or score of 2 on AP test.


The Course:

This is the first quarter in calculus of functions of a single variable. Emphasizes differential calculus, applications and problem solving using the tools of calculus.

Your grades will be determined by how you do relative to the class as a whole. Grades will be based on the following:


Homework:

Homework will be assigned weekly and be collected in Quiz Section on Thursdays (except for week 1 and week 10). You are responsible for all the problems assigned. We have graders to check your homework, but the amount of homework that can be graded is limited. No late homework will be accepted. Click here for Homework (see Outline/Study Guide).


Quizzes:

There are three 20-minute quizzes to be given on Thursdays in weeks 2, 6, and 9.

Exams:

  • The first Midterm Exam will be given on February 3, (Tuesday week 5). The first Midterm will cover Chapter 2 and a part of Chapter 3.
  • The second Midterm Exam will be given on February 24, (Tuesday week 8). The second Midterm will cover Chapter 3.
  • The final exam will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 1:30 to 4:20. See Common Finals for more information. The final exam will cover Chapters 2 to 4. You must bring a Photo ID to all exams.
