Calculus.
The textbook for the course is "Calculus" by Stewart, vol.1
available in the UW bookstore. This is a portion of the
hardbound text "Calculus, 7th Edition, Early Transcendentals"
by Stewart. Either text will work. The custom version vol. 1
covers Math 124/125 at UW. The custom version vol. 2 covers
Math 126/324 at UW.
In addition to the textbook, you will need a "WebAssign access code",
see

We recommend that students read the textbook before
and after each lecture.

Prerequisite:
2.0 in MATH 124, score of 3 on AB advanced placement test,
or score of 3 on BC advanced placement test.
The Course:
This is the second quarter in the calculus of functions of a
single variable. Emphasizes integral calculus, applications
and problem solving using the tools of calculus.
Grades:
Your grades will be determined by how you do relative to the class as a whole.
Grades will be based on the following:
- Worksheets/Quizzes -- 10 %
- Homework -- 10 %
- Midterm one -- 20 %
- Midterm two -- 20 %
- Final -- 40 %
Homework:
All homework is accessible and turned in online using WebAssign.
To sign in to WebAssign, do NOT go to the main WebAssign website.
You must enter through the
Official WebAssign site for UW

You will use your UW Net ID to sign in:

You can sign in to WebAssign as soon as you are enrolled and your
instructor has posted homework assignments, even before you have
purchased an access code. There is a two-week grace period at
the beginning of the quarter for you to get your access code and
enter it into WebAssign. After the grace period, you will not be
able to sign in to WebAssign until you have entered a valid
access code.
Quizzes and Worksheets:
There are three 20-minute quizzes to be given on Oct. 1 (week 2, Tuesday),
Oct. 29 (week 6, Tuesday), and Nov. 19 (week 9, Tuesday).
There is no Course Pack. Students must print the
worksheets
and bring them to quiz sections on Thursdays.
Exams:
The first Midterm Exam will be given on October 17, (Thursday
week 4). The first Midterm will cover Chapters 5 and 6 and
Section 4.9.
The second Midterm Exam will be given on November 14,
(Thursday week 8). The second Midterm will cover Chapters 7 and 8.
The final exam will take place on Saturday, December
7, 2013 from 1:30 to 4:20. See

The final exam will cover
Chapters 5 to 9. You must bring a Photo ID to all exams.

Rules for taking exams:
- You are allowed to use one page of two-sided handwritten 8.5 by 11
sheet of notes.
- A basic scientific calculator is allowed and may be needed,
but no calculators with any graphing, programming,
or calculus capabilities are allowed in exams.
- There are no make-up exams. If you have a compelling and
well-documented reason for missing a test, speak to Math Advising
Office (PDL C-36) about it. See
