Julia Pevtsova is the 2018 recipient of the distinguished teaching award given by the Pacific Northwest Section of the Mathematical Association of America. The award recognizes her wide-ranging contributions to mathematical learners at every level, from elementary schoolers to postdocs. For example, in collaboration with Ioana Dumitriu, she teaches a problem-solving course for undergraduates each autumn and prepares students for the annual Putnam competition. In the community, she has established a Seattle-area Math Circle for 7th to 9th graders as well as the popular spring monthly Math Hour, which culminates in the Math Olympiad for 6th to 10th graders.
