Background: I received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University in 1994 under the supervision of Bernd Sturmfels . After postdoctoral positions at the Cowles Foundation for Economics at Yale University (with Herb Scarf ) and the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum for Informationstechnik in Berlin, I joined the math department at Texas A&M University as an assistant professor. I am currently a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Washington where I held the Robert R. and Elaine F. Phelps Professorship from 2008-2012 and the Robert B. Warfield Jr. Faculty Fellowship from 2017-2020.
