Research Interests: Optimization, Computational Algebra & related topics.

Background: I received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University in 1994 under the supervision of Bernd Sturmfels. In 1994-5, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Herbert Scarf at the Cowles Foundation for Economics at Yale University and then at the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum for Informationstechnik in Berlin, Germany. From 1995-2000 I was an assistant professor of mathematics at Texas A&M University and came to the University of Washington in 2000.
