I received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University in 1994 under the supervision of Bernd Sturmfels. After postdoctoral positions at the Cowles Foundation for Economics at Yale University (with Herb Scarf) and the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum for Informationstechnik in Berlin, I joined the math department at Texas A&M University as an assistant professor. I am currently a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Washington, and held the Robert R. and Elaine F. Phelps Professorship from 2008-2012.
