I'm almost finished grading the final exam - I should have grades posted by the end of the week. Unfortunately, I won't be able to hold office hours this week. If you'd like your final exam, you can stop by office hours after the start of next quarter.

Here is a review sheet for the course, covering all chapters covered, with suggested problems from each chapter.

Here is a set of practice problems for the final exam, with answers. In addition to assigned homework problems and final exams from the archive, these problems are good practice.

Here is the grade record.

Your grade information is listed under the last four digits of your student id number. Be sure to check that your scores have been recorded correctly. If you find an error, please bring it to the attention of your TA right away. Included is also an estimated course grade. This includes the course curve, and the dropping of your lowest homework score. Obviously it does not include the final exam: that can have a very large impact on your actual course grade.

Here are the answers to the second midterm exam.

Here are the stats for midterm 2:

I'll be posting a grade record soon, which will include an estimated course grade for everyone.

Answers will be posted later in the day on Tuesday.

I have updated the homework schedule - chapter 16 problems are no longer due this Friday.

February 3, 2007

Here is an example from Friday's lecture, worked out completely. It's pretty challenging, so it's a good example, though many of your homework problems aren't this complex.

January 29, 2007

Here is the last example from Friday's lecture. Take a look at it: it should help with this week's homework.

Here is a guide to roughly translating your exam score to a grade on the university's 4.0 scale. This is approximately what your grade in the course would be using the course curve if I was basing it only on this exam. I do not use this translation for anything: it is just for your benefit, and your exam score stays what it is. I will apply the curve only at the end of the course after all exams and other scores have been combined into a single percentage score for each student.

The Student Counseling Center is offering a workshop on test anxiety and stress reduction this Monday, January 29. I strongly recommend it. More information about it is here.

Here is a review sheet for the first midterm.

The midterm exam will cover the material in chapters 1 through 7.

Another good resource is the Test Archive on the Materials Website. Click on the link at right, and then the link for the Archive, and you'll find lots and lots of old exams to look at. I recommend taking a few as exams. In other words, give yourself 50 minutes, with no outside help, and only your notesheet and your calculator, and see how you do. This can give you an idea of what you need to work on in order to do as well as you can on the exam.
